City kids don’t have good toys

todd-new-gun-066-e

This is my 11 year old church camp drop out Ray Ray.

After attending another camp and spending the entire week getting picked on by older kids, she is a little skittish about going to back camp. Because I am a mean mother, I made her go to church camp at least one night thinking that once she got there and started having fun all her fears would dissipate.

Wrong.

She spent a whole 22 hours there.

And because I’m the greatest mommy ever, I brought her home.

A home whose backyard is filled with all kinds of expensive toys to play on….4 wheeler, trampoline, swing set, golf clubs, archery set.

But NOOOOOO!!!!

Why on God’s earth would you play with that crap when you can climb 15 feet in the air, play on hay bales and scare the bejesus out of your mother?

Because scaring the crap out of your mother is a hellava lot more fun than having to share a cabin with a bunch of girls that steal your snacks.

This wasn’t the Cumberland Presbyterian church camp up at Crescendo, was it?

You ARE such a great mom. I’m so sorry to hear she had a rough time away. Kids can be so cruel sometimes.

Love that pic of her though. I hate to say it, but it does look like fun :)

    Airedale Girl,
Yes it was the CP church camp but that was not where the problem was. She went to 4H camp a couple weeks ago and was terrorized the whole week. Her counselor was a high school student who did nothing about the bullying. It has ruined the whole camp experience for her which is so sad because last year she had a great time at church camp.
Girls are mean. I don’t remember them being this cruel when I was that age but maybe I have forgotten.
Makes me want to pinch their heads off and flush them down the toilet.

Heck yeah! Was there ever any question about which was more fun? Don’t get me wrong, camp is fun, but climbing on hay bales?… Sooo much MORE fun! ;)

You have forgotten, dear. Concentrate hard and at least one pack leader from our school will materalize out of the mists of time.

I’m sorry she didn’t give the church camp a better chance. I understand her reticence and tween angstiness following the 4-H camp experience, but that crap doesn’t go unnoticed or unpunished at beautiful Camp Crescendo. We’re (Lions) mean like that. Plus, O Mother of the Year, you actually braved Pine Tavern Road twice in the same week to dispatch and retrieve her. You deserve a medal and a large, alcohol-laden reward.

Incidentally, have you seen the girls’ bathrooms since we renovated them last summer? Italian tile, all new plumbing, new vanities…MUCH nicer than what I have at home!

I think the girls who steal snacks should be put into solitary confinement!
Good for you for rescuing her from the tortures of teenage girls!
And haybales…much more fun. They could care less about snacks. Just happy to have some company. tee hee

oh, the things we used to play using hay bales. . .We usually had a hay loft full of square bales, so we could play all year long. BTW, city kids get bored; farm kids get worked.
