I googled “gay male redneck” killing time for fun now that I am in MS (home state), living in DC most years since graduating Ole Miss. Well, 12…been back 8 not by choice, but I love my hometown. The Episcopal Church of MS is having its' 5th (maybe 6th) LGBT Ministries Retreat. It is in August, 3 days and has GROWN. Tons come from most Southern states and some yankees too. Led by a out of state priest. We are in church budget for work through the year. Even have a clergy training retreat. The first site I landed on was a religious right site and you could not post a comment anywhere. I really wanted to write them “The Christian Right is Neither” (t-shirts and bumber stickers are around with that, but my best friend got his truck rear ended in a parking lot. Brotherly love! Oh, well, at the wedding of said wine-gifter’s little brother, Secret Agent Man and his brother were out in the parking lot passing around what my father said, quizzically, was “a bottle of whiskey with a weird-looking bird on it”. This is both an attest to our collective heritage (the groom was responsible for the keg in the Ebenezer cemetery when my sister got married, btw, CLASS-Y!) and my father’s level of inebriation, as he was a zoologist before he went to med school. I later surmised that it was a bottle of Fighting Cock. Again, we do it with *CLASS* back home!
